The event was led by the Paraguayan Consul in Posadas, Lourdes Rivas Cerini, and the CEO of the National Organising Committee for the WRC Rally del Paraguay, César Marsal, who welcomed the officials and highlighted the importance of cooperation between Paraguay and Argentina in ensuring the success of one of the region’s most significant sporting events.
During the meeting, the main new developments for the 2026 edition of the WRC ueno Rally del Paraguay were presented; this event will once again put Itapúa and the country in the spotlight for millions of spectators worldwide, following a first edition that was internationally recognised by the FIA as the World’s Best Rally. Furthermore, the organisational progress, operational innovations and challenges involved in staging a world-class competition were outlined.
One of the main focuses of the meeting was the establishment of a joint work plan between the two countries, aimed at strengthening inter-institutional coordination and optimising border logistics during the event. In this regard, measures were discussed to facilitate the movement of competitors, technical teams, sponsors, officials, the media and international visitors, incorporating the lessons learnt during the 2025 event to streamline and improve the efficiency of immigration, customs and traffic procedures across both banks of the River Paraná.
“The WRC ueno Rally del Paraguay, awarded as the best WRC event of 2025 by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), will also be the longest in the world, and we invite you all to join us in continuing to make history during this new edition,” said Marsal, who was accompanied by Paraguayan officials including the Minister of Tourism, Jacinto Santa María; the Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Rolando De Barros Barreto; the Deputy Minister for Communication at MITIC, Alejandra Duarte Albospino; the National Director of Migration, Jorge Kronawetter; as well as representatives from ministries, national directorates, technical departments and members of the Itapúa Provincial Government, alongside institutions involved in organising the event.
Representing the Argentine Republic were officials from the Government of the Province of Misiones, including representatives from the Ministries of Sport and Health, provincial and national bodies, municipal authorities, institutions linked to the border crossing and members of the press, reaffirming their commitment to working in a coordinated manner to maximise the economic, tourism and social impact generated by the World Rally Championship across the entire region.
The meeting reaffirmed that the Paraguay Rally goes beyond the sporting sphere to become a platform for regional integration, strengthening ties between Paraguay and Argentina and consolidating a model of cooperation that promotes tourism, trade, connectivity and the shared development of both territories.
