Activity in the capital of the Department of Itapúa is intensifying midway through the week leading up to the event with the arrival of the teams, whose competition vehicles are arriving in containers from various parts of the world, the majority from Europe given the origin of the drivers and teams.
Shipped in from Spain: at the time of writing, the first cars to be seen by the organisers – and by some passers-by – were the three brought by the MSI (Motor & Sport Institute) team led by Spaniard Teo Martín; coincidentally, two of them are driven by Paraguayan drivers.
The team, travelling from Madrid, has brought three Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 cars driven by local driver Alejandro Cachón and the Paraguayans Diego Domínguez Jr. and Andrea Lafarja. These are the cars used in the WRC FORUM8 Rally Japan, so they are currently set up for tarmac, a configuration which will later be modified for use on gravel.
Sixty cars, including the ten Rally1 entries from the three manufacturers competing for the top honour in the discipline, will be on display for the hundreds of thousands of fans arriving from various parts of the country and around the world, as well as the hundreds of national and international journalists accredited for the 2026 WRC ueno Rally del Paraguay.
