During the commercial launch with sponsors of the World Rally Championship (WRC) Paraguay 2026, President Peña reported that he is working to ensure that Paraguay will host this event for at least a decade. “My wish is to leave in 2028 with a ten-year contract,” he said.
At the same time, he highlighted that motorsports are currently giving Paraguay the most visibility, with the 2025 Paraguay Rally being recognized as the best in the world.
“The challenge is not only to maintain but to surpass what we did this year,” said Peña, asking for redoubled efforts and no complacency. “More people will come because of the expectation generated by being the best rally in the world,” he said.
He emphasized that what really made the 2025 Paraguay Rally unique were the fans, who ensured the safety of the competition every second.
“2025 was the rally of safety, the 2026 rally will be the rally of the spectator experience,” the authorities announced on Thursday.
Based on this year’s experience, and taking Finland as a reference, Peña said that his hope is that Paraguay will also be able to attract global brands and become the center and capital of motor sports in Latin America.
