An official meeting was held in Mburuvicha Róga with potential sponsors and attended by President Santiago Peña, Vice President Pedro Alliana, and authorities from the Executive Branch. This first meeting with potential sponsors was also an opportunity to present the results of the 2025 Rally of Paraguay, which had an economic impact of USD 113.3 million and attracted 210,000 visitors.
The first time a WRC event was held in Paraguay, it was crowned the Best Rally in the World 2025 by the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The Organizing Committee seeks to position the Rally del Paraguay as one of the most far-reaching and prestigious platforms on the international sporting calendar.
President Santiago Peña emphasized that the WRC represents a concrete opportunity for the private sector to associate itself with a country brand with high potential. In this regard, he highlighted the work of the organizing committee and the efforts of state institutions through the Law for the Organization of Major Sporting Events, which has demonstrated Paraguay’s capacity to host the Junior Pan American Games and to be the venue for the senior Pan American Games in 2031, as well as the main candidate for the 2031 Youth Olympic Games.
For his part, MIC Deputy Minister Rodrigo Maluff highlighted the importance of President Peña’s leadership in consolidating the Rally. “This is a rally that, in its first edition, already attracted more than 51,000 foreigners and was seen in more than 190 countries through different platforms. In other words, the Paraguay Country Brand was present in almost 200 countries,” he explained.
The Best Rally in the World
Executive Director César Marsal emphasized the significance of the recognition granted by the FIA and its impact on the event’s positioning. “Being chosen as the Best Rally in the World among historic venues and motorsport powerhouses is a source of immense pride. This achievement is the result of rigorous planning, the commitment of the State, the private sector, and a citizenry that embraced the Rally. This is a sport that gave everything to Paraguay, a sport that today represents the country worldwide.”
Marsal added that the 2026 edition, which will take place from August 27 to 30, will raise the standards of the event even further, with new stages, a nighttime Super Special, improvements to the Service Park, and a proposal designed to enhance the public’s experience, consolidating the Rally Paraguay as a permanent fixture on the WRC world calendar. “The best rally in the world is the one the Paraguayans put on, and it’s in this country. Hopefully it will stay here for many years to come,” he said.
