The competition, which will take place from August 28 to 31, is one of the most important events on the global motorsports calendar. It positions Paraguay as a regional venue for major sporting events, boosting domestic tourism and showing the world the image of a green, competitive country with organizational capacity.
Deputy Minister Maluff said that these events boost trade, tourism, and investment, and consolidate us as a hub for sporting events in the region. The continuity of the Rally is guaranteed until 2027, thanks to an agreement with the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which will attract more investment and generate development opportunities.
In addition to local traffic, a significant influx of visitors from neighboring countries is expected, especially from Argentina, where Paraguay represents a more accessible option than other destinations.
The international impact will be amplified by the FIA World Assembly, to be held in Asunción at the end of August, adding a key event for the country’s positioning in the world of motor sports.
An international showcase
Beyond the economic benefits, the WRC will be a platform to showcase the tourist attractions of Itapúa. The rally will pass through unique natural and cultural settings such as the Sierras Coloradas, the Jesuit reductions, and towns such as Cambyretá, Carmen del Paraná, Bella Vista, and Trinidad.
The head of the Vice Ministry of Trade and Services emphasized that we want the world to see that Paraguay is a green country, with history, beauty, and organizational capacity. This is our opportunity to consolidate ourselves as a sustainable and competitive tourist destination, he added.
The sporting calendar in southern Paraguay will continue with other international events, such as the Pan American Multidisciplinary Games and cultural events. In this context, Maluff highlighted advances in infrastructure, such as the refurbishment of the local airport, which will operate domestic flights during the competition.
The World Rally Championship will feature special stages totaling almost 1,000 km, of which more than 150 km will be timed. At least 36 drivers have already confirmed their participation, including world figures and Paraguayan representatives, and the presence of multiple champion Sébastien Ogier, one of the most important names in global rallying, is expected.
