During his speech, President Peña highlighted the significance of the upcoming motorsport event: “We support the Paraguay Rally with medical equipment and accompany it with loans to local producers and entrepreneurs.”
The president emphasized the magnitude of the challenge and the opportunity that hosting such a high-profile event represents for the country. “In a few weeks, Itapúa will host the biggest sporting event not only in Paraguay, but in Latin America: the World Rally Championship,” he said. Peña recalled that this is “a dream that has long been cherished by the people of Itapúa, by Paraguayans, and by racers from all departments of Paraguay.”
The president shared the process that led to this reality: “This is part of an idea that we started on August 15, 2023, when the government took office and the organizers came to me to express their dream of being able to organize an event of this magnitude. Discussions were held, financial commitments were made, and today we can say that we are on the verge of Itapúa, of Paraguay, hosting the largest sporting event in Latin America.”

Peña emphasized the impact that the WRC will have on the region. “I assure you all, no one can imagine the number of people who will come, no one can imagine the challenge it will pose, but also the opportunity. The opportunity for Paraguayans from all over the country to come to Encarnación, to come to Itapúa, the opportunity for neighbors from Argentina, Brazil, and all the countries of the American continent to come and witness this world-class event.”
Beyond the sporting arena, the President highlighted the international exposure that the rally will bring to Paraguay. “But mainly, this will put Paraguay in the global spotlight, it will show off this beautiful country that we Paraguayans have, this beautiful department that is the department of Itapúa. I have no doubt that this will be a great success.”
Looking ahead, President Peña anticipated the continuation of the event in the coming years. “We now have confirmation that it will be organized again in 2026, next year, and again in 2027.”
